Youth Minister

It is my goal to prepare each of my students for whatever path they may take when they become adults. I aim to help my student’s faith and love for Christ to become their own. My prayer for each student is that they will have a personal relationship with Christ that will in turn create an honest desire to praise Him by the time they graduate high school.

Youth and Teen Activities and Events

Some of our teen focused activities and events for you and your family.

Mission Trip

Owensboro Church of Christ - Youth Group - Decatur Work Camp

Youth enjoy mission trips where they have the opportunity to serve others usually by a working at a work camp or running a Vacation Bible School for a local community.

What is a Work Camp?

An example of a work camp includes the Decatur Work Camp, where over 200 youths from various congregations gather to fix houses throughout the city of Decatur, Alabama. Beltline Church of Christ started the event in 1998, and has coordinated it ever since. The homes are owned by elderly or low-income individuals who cannot do the repairs themselves. The repairs can be as simple as a paint job or as major as a roof replacement. The projects give teenagers an opportunity to serve others.

T.I.T.U.S. Camp

Owensboro Church of Christ - Youth Group - Titus Camp

(Teens In Training for Useful Service) began in 2005 on the campus of Heritage Christian University. It exists for the purpose of training young people to be better equipped for Christian service. Every young person is put into a spiritually enriched environment where they are given the tools and training they need to better serve our Creator. They are given a topic to research and encouraged to prepare a lesson to be delivered on the final day of camp. Several local churches sponsor these young people and allow them to use their talents Sunday morning before graduation.

Winterfest

A weekend retreat going on since 1988. This retreat is geared toward middle and high school teens. They use teachers to teach and encourage teens in their walk with God. The teachers and guests that come use real life stories, drama, music and scripture to make the Christian life come alive to the teens involved. The praise and worship times are uplifting and engaging. Believing that the Christian life can be very joyful, they bring in Christian entertainers to challenge teens with their lifestyle and their attitudes.

Owensboro Church of Christ - Youth Group - Celebration

Since that time Celebration has continued to be a traditional event that takes place each fall at the Kentucky Dam Village. The message of Jesus is annually preached to around 1000 teens and sponsors.
